Tiana's Eyewitness Story
I saw the filming this weekend in las vegas on fremont st also and I can tell you what was being filmed... the scence showed sandra and a co star dressed in showgirl outfits stopping a man in the street, sandra threw him on the hood of a car with his hands pulled behind his back and then I seen her running to the otherside of the car to get in the drivers side, but her costume is too big so she manuvers around (very funny) and finally climbs inside head first to lay across the passenger and drivers seat. The scene I witnessed was being filmed on friday night, April 23rd.
Exclusive Eyewitness Story, by Randall Robinson
I did a total of 5 days on the set, two days in the casino and three days outside the treasure island casino doing the water scenes. Sandra wore the showgirl costume for all five days. The two days inside were a lot of fun, I played a slot player during the fight scenes between Sandra, her sidekick and the bad guys. The fight scenes had her swinging on a casino sign near the craps table and booting the huge bad guy abraham (real 1st name) in the chest, he goes down, Sandra sidekick takes over the fight while Sandra runs outside to the water scene. The big guy throws Sandras sidekick onto a craps table, tosses her around the casino a bit, she wins the fight. All this took 12 hours of filming. The second day inside, I was still at the slot machine and Sandra tries to handcuff a second bad guy and gets into a brawl with him, kicking the gun out of his hand and flipping him over with his head between her legs and finally cuffing him to the slot chair I was sitting at ( when the fight started, the director had me get up and run into the crowd like I was scared, I'm 6'11' and weigh 240 so I guess he thought it would add some comedy to the scene). Several times when they were moving the lights for new shots Sandra would stand around a talk and joke with the extras, once during the fight scene when she was jumping up to swing on the scene she missed it and yelled "shit", that made the whole crew and extras burst out laughing. The outside scenes were shot from dusk until dawn for three nights outside the casino where they have a huge artificial lake with two pirate ships, one of which has William Shatner and Miss America held prisoner below deck. Sandra runs out from the fight scene inside, dives into the lake and saves shatner and miss america. Dietrict Bader (oswald from the drew carey show) plays a transvestite show girl in this scene. There were 750 extras for two of the nights doing the set up shots outside and for the climactic scene they had 1500 extras milling around in front of the casino. The whole movie was a great deal of fun, and I think that all the extras enjoyed themselves and were treated very nicely by the stars and crew.
On the 26 and 27th of April we were doing the fight scenes inside the treasure island casino. 5,7,and 11th May were the scenes outside using the pirate ships and the big herd of extras. If you wanted to be a extra for those scenes the requirements were very stiff...you had to be a air breathing mammal with a pulse and I think that was waived for some of the extras that were there. The scenes on May 7th were shot from dark until dawn and we had wind gusts of 55 miles per hour all night, William Shatner and the woman playing Miss America had to bob around in the water for quite a long time and it was REALLY COLD! They both got quite an ovation from the extras when they finally got out of the water. All the extras got blankets and car covers whatever they could find during the meal break. The director would call, ROLLING, BACKGROUND, PEOPLE DROP YOUR BLANKETS, ACTION!! Sandra B. got hosed down for the scene but I don't recall her actually being in the water, her stunt double dove into the lake in the rescue scene. |
